GYSS Scouts is known as Polar Bear Unit. We are committed to the development and education of the youth in scouting. Scouting inculcates sound values and life-skills that will develop a person physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. The Scouts program provides a group environment which is intellectually stimulating, physically vital and directed towards satisfying the child's basic need to face and overcome challenges. The activities are based on the natural sense of fun and enthusiasm of the age group and thus the training is achieved largely through games, interaction in small groups and activities. Scouts can also discover, learn and put into practice essential life skills through serving others and learning by doing.

The highlight of activity is the Job Week that takes place during the March holidays. The boys worked tireless but with a sense of pride. During this period, Scouts will fan out throughout the island and knock on doors of residences and offices to seek jobs from generous-hearted Singaporeans in return for a cash donation to raise funds for the Association. Scouts are trained from a young age to realize that there is dignity in labour, that honest work is a definite virtue through Job Week. In addition to other core values, dignity in labour and honest work, no doubt, will train the Scouts to be better leaders and citizens of tomorrow in our affluent society.

We are also proud to achieve the well-coveted Frank Cooper Sands Awards (Bronze) in 2006 and 2007. GYSS Polar Bear Unit will strive for more enriching activities, make scouting a CCA not to be missed for the youth.
